The Current was founded with our TOSS philosophy: a Team of Specialized Stylists working together to offer personalized, elevated service.
Instead of one stylist managing every step of your visit, we train our team to collaborate — blending the support of apprentices with the expertise of experienced stylists. This allows us to work efficiently without compromising quality, care, or creativity.
We have created a space where clients feel seen, heard, and understood. Our team-based approach means no matter when you visit, you’ll be cared for by stylists who are familiar with your preferences, history, and hair goals.

Michelle Knudsen

My journey in hair began in childhood, but it truly took shape after formal training in Calgary. From there, I spent five years as a Bumble and Bumble educator and top sales leader, gaining insight into both the creative and business sides of the industry.
In 2014, I opened my own studio with a vision of building a collaborative, education-focused space. That vision grew into The Current, a full-service Davines Concept Salon and Hair Academy in downtown Prince George. Since 2020, I’ve proudly developed and led our in-house education programs, mentoring new talent and supporting continued growth across our team.
At The Current, we prioritize sustainability, high-performance products, and an inclusive, team-based approach to client care. My mission is to help raise the standard of hairdressing in the North — empowering stylists and helping every client feel confident, seen, and understood.
Specialties:
Transformational colour, corrective work, grey blending, technical cutting, thick and curly hair, long men’s styles, and mentoring through collaboration.

With over 15 years of customer service experience, a Bachelor of Social Work, and a few entrepreneurial ventures under my belt, I bring a unique mix of organization, empathy, and resourcefulness to the team. I’m always curious to learn more about the hair industry and excited to contribute to upcoming projects that support both our stylists and clients.

I apprenticed under a second-generation barber with 30+ years of experience. I also had the opportunity to take my talents abroad, with a stint in Australia and owned my own mobile barbershop in Kelowna.
