Rather than one stylist managing every part of your appointment, our team works together. Apprentices learn alongside experienced stylists, support moves where it's needed, and each person brings their own strengths to your hair.

Michelle
Salon Owner | Level 4 Red Seal Stylist | Educator | program developer

Red Seal Certified Stylist and 2x Davines Talent Greenhouse Top 100 Finalist
Michelle brings years of experience, a technical eye, and a genuine love of education to The Current. She is who you book when your hair has a history. She takes on corrections, big colour changes and the cuts others find tricky, including thick, curly and textured hair.
When she's not behind the chair, she's teaching and running the business. Michelle also builds The Current's academy programs and mentors the team.

Melissa
Salon Manager
Melissa is the behind-the-scenes support system that helps everything run smoothly at The Current. With a background in social work, over 15 years in customer service, and experience running her own businesses, she brings a balance of organization, empathy, and problem-solving to the salon.
From coordinating training and supporting social media to maintaining retail and daily operations, Melissa focuses on creating ease and flow so the team can do their best work and clients feel taken care of every step of the way.
Shemaine
Level 4 Master Barber | Educator

Shemaine brings over a decade of barbering experience and a love for both classic and modern barbering to The Current. Her approach is detail-focused, giving each appointment the time and attention it deserves.
Trained under a second-generation barber with more than 30 years of experience, her career has taken her from Australia to owning her own mobile barbershop in Kelowna. She works across all hair types, from clean fades and tapers to textured styles.

Red Seal Certified Stylist & Davines Talent Greenhouse 2026 Top 30 Finalist. Christina loves getting creative behind the chair. Bright, alternative colour and big transformations are her happy place, but she's just as comfortable with lived-in colour, blonding, technical cuts, and everything in between.
She's known for being thoughtful with the details, from keeping track of formulas and client preferences to making sure each colour is designed specifically for them. As an educator, Christina is always learning and sharing what she knows with the team.

2023 Current Academy Graduate. Julie has a soft spot for rich, dimensional colour and beautifully finished hair. She loves creating seamless blondes, glossy colour, and working with Philocaly extensions to add fullness, movement, and a little something extra.
Catch her in the back on her break watching videos on the latest techniques and trends. As a mentor, she’s just as happy to share what she finds with the team.

Daria

Daria is warm, thoughtful, and meticulous in her work. All of her attention goes into the details: soft, seamless blonding, Airtouch, and dimensional colour that blends beautifully as it grows out. She’s also a talented photographer who loves capturing her clients and their finished colour.
If you love a calm appointment where you can switch off and let your stylist focus, Daria’s chair might just be for you.
Daria consults in English with the help of a translation app. Bringing inspiration photos is always helpful.

Camilla

2024 Blanche MacDonald Graduate: Ask her mentors and they'll tell you Camilla is a natural with hair. Her natural eye for colour and cutting shows in her work. She also loves bringing her creativity into bridal styling.
In the chair, she's attentive and a good listener. She takes the time to understand what you're looking for and make sure you feel heard throughout your appointment.

2025 Current Academy Graduate: Blonding is one of Adi's favourite things to create, and she's developing a great eye for bright, dimensional colour. She's also becoming known for her cutting, with a natural eye for shape and detail.
She's young, fun, and easy to chat with, bringing plenty of energy to the salon.

2026 Current Academy Graduate: Brooke is our newest stylist on the floor, fresh from the Current Academy and building her book now. She's calm and easy-going, so her chair is a relaxed place to land. 2023 Blanche MacDonald Graduate: Lauren always knows what's in style, and she brings that eye to your hair. Long, layered cuts with movement are her favourite, and blonding is quickly becoming her thing.
She's also very funny. Book her if you want a great appointment that feels a little like catching up with a friend who happens to be good at hair.

2026 Current Academy Graduate: Olivia is one of our newer stylists and brings a curious, adventurous energy to the chair. She's warm, welcoming, and genuinely enjoys getting to know her clients. As she continues to build her confidence behind the chair, she's finding her own style and growing into her strengths. She's always up for trying something new, and just as quick to jump in and help a teammate when they need an extra set of hands.
