Instead of one stylist managing every step of your visit, we train our team to collaborate, blending the support of apprentices with the expertise of experienced stylists. This allows us to work efficiently without compromising quality, care, or creativity.

We have created a space where clients feel seen, heard, and understood. Our team-based approach means no matter when you visit, you’ll be cared for by stylists who are familiar with your preferences, history, and hair goals.

Michelle leads The Current with a focus on education, transformation, and elevated client experience. As an advanced cutter and colourist, she’s known for her ability to listen deeply and deliver results that align with each client’s lifestyle and vision.

She specializes in transformative work, technical cutting, and working with all hair types, including curly and textured hair. Alongside her work behind the chair, Michelle mentors the team and plays a key role in shaping the salon’s education programs.

Melissa

Salon Coordinator

Melissa is the behind-the-scenes support system that helps everything run smoothly at The Current. With a background in social work, over 15 years in customer service, and experience running her own businesses, she brings a balance of organization, empathy, and problem-solving to the salon.

From coordinating training and supporting social media to maintaining retail and daily operations, Melissa focuses on creating ease and flow so the team can do their best work and clients feel taken care of every step of the way.

Shemaine

Shemaine is a Master Barber known for her precision, versatility, and elevated client experience. Trained under a second-generation barber with 30+ years of experience, she has built a strong foundation in classic and modern barbering techniques.

Her career has taken her abroad to Australia and into entrepreneurship, owning a mobile barbershop in Kelowna. She works confidently across all hair types, offering everything from fades and tapers to longer, textured styles.
